:Notability is definitely culture-specific. Rabbis' biographies are relevant to Jews, religious Jews in particular, while they may seem completely irrelevant to Japanese speakers (except some highly notable figures like the Rambam). It seems natural to me that the Yiddish Wikipedia includes more biographic articles about Rabbis than other Wikipedias. The question remains how these articles should be written.
