In the recent past there have been several votes, which were very unclear, especially the result. There has been a vote on meta too, which cannot be counted, as meta is not part of this project.
But the question remains: Does this community want [[user:רוני]] to be sysop? In my perspective, the community is the boss at the end, but to know what the community wants, there has to be a fair vote, and the rules must be clear. I will hence propose in the near future to you a set of proposals regarding voting etc.
But for now, we have to come up with a few rules of our own. These are the rules for this specific vote:
* The vote is on the election of [[user:רוני]] as a sysop.
* He will be elected as sysop when 75% of the community supports him.
* The vote will start on june 17 2007 12.00h UTC and last for 14 days.
* Persons with more then 100 edits and more then 1 month since their first edit (counting on 14 june 2007, 20:00h UTC) are allowed to vote. (The person voted upon may of course not vote)
* You may only vote once. Attempting to vote with sockpuppets is '''explicitely forbidden''', and these votes will be cancelled, all of them (also the original, "valid", vote). The user using sockpuppets for this will get blocked for a long time (all accounts). A checkuser will be performed on *every* voter.
* The official language of this vote will be English, however it is appreciated if everything will be translated.
* Comments at the votes are not allowed. If you want to explain your vote, you can do so at the comments-section.
* Effeietsanders will be the vote coordinator. It is '''not''' allowed to strike votes. Only Effeietsanders is allowed to do that. Requests for striking votes can be made in the comments section.

Hello all,
Let me clarify a few things: Yes, there were votes before on this candidacy. I know of two of them. The first was here on this page, it is archived, I beleive there is a link on the top of this page, the second was on metawiki. The first had the major problem that it was unclear what happened due to all the strikes etc. The second was on meta, and could not be considered as a real community vote. Hence I started a third vote. The first two votes have not been given a result. He is not sysop at the moment.
Further I heard some complaints about the 75%. Yidel asked to put it on 80%, Joel.m asked for 50%. I have seen votes on quite some different Wiki's, and a 3/4 majority is quite regular as you need to represent more as just the majority of the community. The idea is that a sysop has gained the trust of almost the whole community, hence the percentage is higher as just 50%. I know that enwiki has a blurry procedure where the bureaucrats decide what the final percentage is after the vote. That way they can decide when it is between 75 and 80%. I do not consider a further rise of the percentage necessarily, I think that 75% is the regular percentage on Wiki's, and when no percentage is defined, I always use that percentage with community elections of sysops.
I heard complaints on my talkpage on the program of the candidate. That is actually not my case. The community has to judge whether he is a suitable candidate, not me. I hope to have answered the most urgent questions. I would like to ask everybody urgently NOT to edit each others comments. Not even grammar errors. Doing that might lead to falcification of data.
